Overview

The goal was to create a trustworthy, SEO-focused website that would establish Dr. Littman as a specialist in Relationship OCD (ROCD) and attract people actively searching for information and treatment.

The Challenge

The main objective was to help Dr. Littman build an independent online presence beyond the platforms where he already publishes.

While he already had an established psychology practice, he wanted to reach people specifically searching for Relationship OCD (ROCD) and position himself as a trusted specialist in this field.

The website needed to balance educational content, credibility, and SEO, while remaining simple, approachable, and free from the generic visual language often associated with psychology websites.

Strategic Approach

The content and initial structure had already been prepared, so my role focused on transforming them into a clear, engaging, and SEO-friendly experience.

This included:

  • refining the page hierarchy for better readability and search visibility

  • organizing content into clearer thematic sections

  • designing a distinctive visual identity that reinforces trust without relying on generic stock photography

  • creating a scalable CMS blog to support long-term organic growth

  • ensuring a fully responsive experience across all devices

Solution

Structuring Content to Build Trust

While the original structure already contained valuable information, it relied on many small question-based sections, making the page feel fragmented.

I reorganized the content into larger thematic sections with a clearer hierarchy, allowing visitors to navigate the information more naturally while preserving the SEO value of the original content.

To reinforce this sense of clarity, I designed the interface using a structured grid-based layout inspired by bento design principles. This approach organizes complex information into digestible blocks, creating a calm, professional experience that feels both approachable and trustworthy.

I also introduced an Additional Resources section to highlight Dr. Littman's Psychology Today articles and self-guided ROCD program, making these valuable resources more visible instead of leaving them hidden in the footer.

Using Illustration Instead of Stock Photography

Instead of using generic therapy stock photos, we developed an abstract illustration system tailored to the subject matter.

Each illustration was carefully selected to visually reinforce the surrounding content:

  • swirling shapes to represent intrusive thoughts and uncertainty

  • more structured compositions for treatment-related sections

  • brain-inspired visuals for the hero and About section

  • a consistent illustration style across blog articles

This approach gives the website a distinctive visual identity while keeping the focus on the educational content.

Designing an SEO-Focused Reading Experience

Since organic search was one of the project's primary goals, I designed a scalable blog experience optimized for both readers and search engines.

Each article includes a clear reading layout with estimated reading time, publication date, and related articles to encourage further exploration and increase engagement.

The CMS makes it easy to publish new content while maintaining visual consistency across every article.
